GP16:8 - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to start this plan on a Monday?
No, your 16:8 programme can begin on any day of the week.
Q: What should I eat during my 8-hour window?
Follow the GP Principles for healthy eating, consciously including a wide variety of nutrient-dense foods.
Q: Do I have to stick to the same times?
No - it’s completely up to you to decide when to start the eating window each day but for optimal results, try to keep to a similar schedule throughout the week.
Q: When is the best time to exercise?
Some people are fine exercising during periods of fasting, but we recommend that you do any high-intensity training during your 8-hour eating window.
Q: What if I feel hungry during my fasting window?
This is normal and will subside as you adjust to the programme. Remember to stay hydrated or have a serving of Feel Great Fibre if you cannot wait.
Q: Do the capsules contain caffeine or laxatives?
The Thermo Blend capsule within Metabolism Complex contains approximately 20mg of caffeine from green tea. For comparison, a coffee contains around 100mg of caffeine.
Q: Is it ok if I don't use all 3 servings of Feel Great Fibre every day?
We recommend that you have a minimum of 2 servings to help control portion sizes, reduce cravings and balance blood sugar levels.
Q: What about alcohol?
Alcohol is high in calories and provides very little in terms of nutrition. We advised that you limit alcohol, but If you do have a drink, make sure it’s during your 8-hour eating window.
Q: Can I still have caffeine?
During your eating window follow the GP Principles and always have your caffeinated drink with or after a balanced meal or snack.
Q: Is there anyone who shouldn't do GP16:8?
- People who are underweight or have an eating disorder.
- Anyone under the age of 18.
- Type 1 diabetics and diabetics taking medication.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
- People recovering from surgery or those with an underlying medical condition unless signed off by a doctor.
Q: Can I do GP16:8 whilst taking prescription medication?
We always recommend consulting your prescribing doctor before embarking on any Intermittent Fasting programme. People taking Warfarin should not use this method as the variation of food intake may alter their INR.
