L-Theanine is an amino acid found in tea leaves and some mushrooms. It encourages relaxation and restful sleep by boosting levels of GABA, serotonin and dopamine - the neurotransmitters in the brain that have a soothing effect. It is also known to reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety.
